As a collector of trading cards myself, I found it incredibly frustrating that professional grading can sometimes be left up to the decision of the grader and can vary between graders at the same company. The other issue is that a whopping 62% of all graded cards are worth less than the raw value. With this in mind I sought after a solution to take the biased variation of human decision out of the equation and give the maximum amount of transparency. Slabbable is a machine learning and computer vision application that will inspect the front, back, and edges of each card. Slabbable gives you a grade prediction in seconds, so you send in the right cards and leave the rest in the binder.

How it works

1. Scan the front and back. The camera guide lines up the card, and Slabbable flags blur and glare before you save.

2. Get a predicted grade. A model trained on thousands of professionally graded cards gives a prediction on the PSA 1–10 scale, using both sides of the card.

3. Check the centering. Slabbable measures the borders on the front and back, gives left/right and top/bottom ratios, and tells you the highest grade that centering allows.
